Are you interested in volunteering at the HOBY South Florida seminar?
This could be you!
Each year at HOBY South Florida, approximately 35 community volunteers work together to provide high school sophomores with leadership-enhancing experiences. HOBY South Florida is run entirely by a volunteer committee.
Our Team Alumni & Facilitator application is currently OPEN. Anyone interested in volunteering at our seminar should complete an application or e-mail a respective director (listed below).
Volunteer opportunities include:
Planning Committee (8-12 month commitment): Front-line seminar leaders who handle the various planning and administrative tasks involved in hosting a successful seminar. Typical roles involve volunteer coordination and recruitment, ambassador recruitment, program planning and coordination, and fundraising or community relations tasks. Individuals interested in serving as planning committee volunteers should contact the Leadership Seminar Chairperson.
Team Alumni (4 day commitment): High school-age HOBY alumni who return to energize and coordinate activities for the seminar. These juniors and seniors motivate and inspire HOBY ambassadors throughout the seminar and help them transition to life as HOBY alumni after the seminar. Former HOBY ambassadors interested in serving as Team Alumni members should contact the Director of Operations.
Facilitators (4 day commitment): Adults, age 19 and older, to lead a group of sophomores during the seminar. Facilitators are energetic, approachable, passionate volunteers responsible for the day-to-day supervision and guidance of HOBY ambassadors. Individuals interested in serving as facilitators should contact the Director of Facilitators.
Auxiliary Staff (4 day commitment, flexible): Individuals assigned to specific tasks at the seminar as needed. These may be alumni or adults, working under the direct supervision of the Leadership Seminar Chair. Individuals interested in available positions should contact the Leadership Seminar Chairperson.
